Things to Do

Welcome to the Queen City!

If you have a few extra days to spend in the Queen City or are eager to explore more of our city before the wedding, take a look at our favorite recommendations below!

Restaurants

Queen Park Social

Explore the spot where it all began - where Chandler & Eli shared their first date! Queen Park Social boasts an expansive 18,000-square-foot space featuring a bar, restaurant serving Tex-Mex and American cuisine, and an entertainment venue. Enjoy a collection of interactive games such as shuffle board, ping pong, Skee ball, classic board games, bowling and all the arcade games you can imagine! We can't recommend it enough (for obvious reasons)!

Jack Beagles

One of Eli's favorites + our second date spot! This cozy neighborhood bar in Charlotte’s NoDa district is the perfect spot for comfort food and craft drinks. Famous for their mac and cheese and creative cocktails, it’s a great place to grab a bite and unwind. The laid-back atmosphere, live music, and outdoor patio make it a local favorite. Whether you’re stopping in for brunch or late-night eats, Jack Beagle’s captures the vibrant energy of NoDa!

La Belle Helene

No passport required to dine at this authentic French brasserie located in Uptown instead of in Paris. La Belle Helene, named for a French opera, backs up its stunning interior with classic French dishes.

Breweries

Though some might immediately associate Charlotte with banking or NASCAR, the Queen City is quickly becoming known for its craft beer culture. Charlotte has dozens and dozens of breweries, with new arrivals opening almost every month. Check out some of the local favorites below!

The Olde Mecklenburg Brewery

"OMB" is an expansive, bustling, German-inspired brewhouse with an eight-acre biergarten. The space is situated in the "LoSo" (Lower South End) district, is within walking district to other breweries and hot spots, making it the perfect focal point for an afternoon adventure.

Sycamore Brewing

Located in the trendy, walkable South End neighborhood, Sycamore Brewing is the go-to Charlotte hangout for natives and their dogs.

Charlotte Beer Garden

Situated in South End and crowned the top beer garden in the U.S. according to the 2023 USA Today Readers’ Choice 10 Best contest, this spot offers the world's largest draft beer selection across three stories and a rooftop!

Activities

Optimist Hall

A Charlotte native's favorite! The Queen City has no shortage of fantastic dining options, and many can be found at Optimist Hall. A building, formerly home to Charlotte’s largest textile mill built in 1892, was transformed into Optimist Hall, a food hall north of Uptown in the Optimist Park neighborhood. The 22,000-square-foot space has more than 25 tenants with more on the way.

NASCAR Hall of Fame

The NASCAR Hall of Fame is a thrilling experience for car enthusiasts of all ages. From its interactive exhibits to the memorabilia and artifacts dedicated to iconic drivers at the scene, everyone can find something. Guests can also enjoy exciting activities like simulating driving on a race track and experiencing pit-crew challenges. Or, take delight in the movies that tell the stories of women, families, and legendary drivers. For NASCAR fans everywhere the Hall of Fame provides an immersive and educational experience to learn about this beloved sport.

Charlotte Liberty Walk

The Charlotte Liberty Walk is an educational opportunity to learn about the origins and development of Charlotte, and how its citizens influenced and participated in the American Revolution. It will bring the history of Charlotte to life in a unique new format utilizing the power of mobile devices to deliver these compelling stories. Because none of Charlotte’s pre-revolutionary structures exist today, the Charlotte Liberty Walk App tour serves as a visual aid to help people bridge the centuries and understand what the city was like during the early formative years. Expect a winding walkway stretching almost a mile. It’s lined with statues telling the story of America’s fight for freedom. As you journey along the walk, you can learn about events and people who helped shape our nation’s history. At the same time, take in the wonderful views of historic Uptown Charlotte.
